CSO Gospel Choir Announces Generous Gift from Dolphin Architects & Builders
April 29, 2008
April 29, 2008--Charleston, SC-The Charleston Symphony Orchestra (CSO) is pleased to announce that Dolphin Architects and Builders has generously supported the CSO Gospel Choir with a ,000 gift for the Choir's 2008 concert season.
Walter G. Seinsheimer, Jr., former Charleston Symphony Orchestra board member and President of local design/build firm Dolphin Architects and Builders said, "the CSO Gospel Choir is a leading artistic component of the area's cultural landscape-and I personally adore the music! Dolphin is excited to support the Choir in its effort to unite the community through its inspiring sounds." CSO Board President, Leo Fishman added "for eight seasons now the CSO Gospel Choir has captivated audiences with its powerful message. The Choir itself would not have been possible without the vision of Wally Seinsheimer and his company Dolphin Builders. We are extremely grateful for this ongoing support that strengthens the future of this very important organization."
A founding partner of the Gospel Choir, Seinsheimer is committed to seeing it grow and expand artistically. In 1998, Seinsheimer was inspired by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's Gospel Christmas concert and suggested to the CSO's executive director and board that a similar event be created in the Charleston area. Mr. Lee Pringle, Chair of the CSO's Community Partners and President of the Choir stated, "we immediately saw the need for Charleston to have a racially diverse musical group focusing on gospel and African-American spirituals. We feel we are the catalyst for preserving this important musical heritage. With the dedication of the Choir and the support of Dolphin, we continue to deepen that commitment and grow artistically."
Since 1936, as the largest full-time performing arts organization in South Carolina, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra (CSO) is a central component in the rich cultural foundation of the region and attracts an audience of over 100,000 people annually. The CSO promotes the enjoyment and appreciation of music among visitors and residents of the Tri-County region to make music a vital part of the area's cultural life. www.charlestonysymphony.com
Now celebrating its eighth year, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra Gospel Choir performs gospel, spirituals and sacred music for annual concert events including a Palm Sunday performance, CSO Gospel Christmas and Piccolo Spoleto Festivals in Charleston, South Charleston and regional performances throughout the Southeast. Led by director Glenn R. Nixon, the Choir's success is evident through the growing reach and diversity of its audience. www.csogospel.com
For over two decades, Dolphin Architects & Builders has been the design/build firm of choice for the discerning Kiawah and Seabrook homeowner. Now Dolphin's collection of custom-built residences, from striking showcase homes to thoughtful cottages, can be found throughout Charleston, Mount Pleasant and neighboring islands.
